Township of Langley 2010 BC Summer Games Society
President`s Message
As many as 4,000 exceptional athletes, coaches, and officials from across British Columbia will be welcomed to the Township of Langley when the municipality hosts the 2010 BC Summer Games. This prestigious event will run from July 22 to 25 and the Township is preparing to make the Games a fantastic success for participants and an opportunity for residents and businesses to experience the excitement of the Games.
The Games will require the help of more than 3,000 volunteers. There will be 23 separate sports, and 35 events held at 17 different venues. We are expecting more athletes than participate in the Commonwealth Games or were at the recent Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the Township and its great sport facilities. It will be an exciting and rewarding experience for all of the many volunteers and it will bring significant revenue to local businesses.
The Games are all about the athletes who will be striving for their “personal bests” and to use these Games as a stepping stone to advance to national, international and Olympic competitions. I would like to encourage all of you to become part of the Games, to volunteer, to be a spectator, or to contribute your financial support.
It is going to be a truly exciting and rewarding time.
